Rhossili and Wormshead

I have wanted to visit the Gower estuary for a long time and today was the lucky day.  Oh my goodness it did not disappoint!

Rhossili beach is just stunning. I love the little cottage tucked away on the hillside, that must have the most mesmerising views.

As you walk around there are free roaming animals, not sure why they are partly shorn sheep though?

As you walked a short distance you were greeted with the view of Wormshead.

You can walk across, but be warned if you get your timing wrong you'll be on the rock for a long time till the tide subsides!

As you walk around the headland you are very aware of the erosion happening.

The area is surrounded by the most beautiful flowers too.

We had the most spectacular knitting spot too.

On the way back we stopped off at Arthur's Rock which is an amazing stone on top of the moorland and the views are spectacular.

Let me know if you enjoy reading my blog as I love to share my images.

WWT Llanelli

For those who follow my blog will know I am a huge fan of the WWT.  I visit my local one at least four times a year.

So it would have been amiss not to pop into the Llanelli one which was only a few minutes from where we were staying.

This site is twice the size of Slimbridge and far less "managed". I was told Slimbridge is man made, but this site was carved out of the surroundings already there.

I even managed a spot of knitting.

Staying local in Llanelli

So for a couple of days we have stayed local, not that we have had to travel far for anything really.

I took a walk in the morning out of the accommodation and turned left and headed to Hafan Llidel Beach.

Just across the other side of the river bed is the Wetlands Centre.

I love the fact you can hear the Curlews in the video.

I decided to climb up some boulders and sit and take in the view.  The boulders themselves where fascinating.

Llanelli beach is a beautiful place to just sit and be mindfull. I mean how could you not love this view!

I try and take my knitting everywhere I go, so I got it out and just took some time to enjoy a lace project.

On my walk back I was treated to a 30 second up close encounter with a Stone Chat singing it's heart out.

For the afternoon I had a short walk around the Dock area that they have.

Then finished the day on the balcony with some more knitting and a great ornament found in the Airbnb we are staying in that was so apt.

The Millennium Coastal Path

So for today's adventure we walked from Llanelli to Burry Point along an amazing coastal path that was opened by the Queen in 2002.

This is our walk diary.

As you start out you come across a what looks like a lovely nature reserve, of which there are many we are discovering.  But on closer inspection it in fact was an the Stradey Park Rugby field which was used in Llanelli from 1872-2008.

Then a short distance on is a plague for Amelia Earhart who was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic in 1928.

We then walked passed the coastal town of Pwll.

I then took a short video at 11.30 of the estuary.

In the video you can hear the train as the track runs alongside the waters edge.

We then stopped for a short refreshment break and I had to do a few rounds of my sock, I mean Wow what a setting!

The flora and fauna are just so rich just full of nature.

In the morning when we were having our breakfast we spotted least 12 vehicles driving on the sand and we wondered what they were doing. All became apparent when we saw this information board.

It told of the fact that the beach is an area where Cockle Fishing is allowed for personal use only.

After what seemed like quiet a while we finally reached Burry Port.

Spurred on by a need for refreshments we headed back go a cafe we spotted halfway along and had a well earned treat.

Then to cool off the feet and just because we took a dip in the water, it was so refreshing.

Then it was back and relax with my second knitting project which will take a while to grow as it is laceweight yarn and a long cardi design.
