So after two years of being no show, Wonderwool Wales based at The Royal Showground, Builth Wells, finally opened it's doors again!!
Goodness it was well received by many like minded people who love to catch up, fondle and enjoy all things wool related!!
My bestie friend travelled 127 miles from her home in Devon and we then travelled 80 miles from my home in Cheltenham to visit the show. We were not disappointed.
I was just on my way to dropping off some surplus yarn for the Air Ambulance when I spotted
Isabell Kraemer. Her designs and aesthetic are just so inspiring. She currently has over 100 sweater designs, on Ravelry, accessories and beautiful shawls. She designs using either colour work or textures. Isabell started adding designs to Ravelry back in 2011 and has an amazing portfolio of work.
I knew I could not come to the show and not visit Jeni and Andy of Chester Wool, I never manage to leave this stand without buying something!
Back when Edinburgh Yarn show was on was the first time I came across
Katie Green in person, prior to this I had seen her incredible illustrations in PomPom magazine. Her style and talent is just amazing and also her "thinking outside the box" in terms of merchandizing. Also who's not going to love her amazing outfit and woolly hat?!
Next we have the beaming smile that is Zoe of
Cartref yarn The yarn is 100% Welsh so can't go wrong with that really and on home turf for her too.
Finally I had to make sure I visited
Ducky Darlings Yarns after all she had cast on my
Take Time Shawl using her own beautiful yarn. I also used two of her colourways in my version I am wearing here. Next time I see her in a few months, she said she will do her best to have finished it :)
Lastly I can not go without mentioning this incredible stand that we came across which is such a worth while charity for any ladies who have had a full or partial mastectomy. The charity creates
Knitted Knockers which are completely unique to each lady who requests one. The care, love and attention that they show each customer is incredible and a charity that should be shouted from the roof tops.
Finally I just thought I'd share the few skeins of yarn that I purchased.
These two skeins of yarn are from
Woolyknit a wholesale company who deal with the general public along with high end fashion houses.
I decided to wind my two skeins together so when I knit this 100% wool it will be such a beautiful blend of colour.
I had not come across
The Lace Knittery before, but when I saw this natural dyed yarn from blackberry's I had to add to my stash. I love lace knitting and am slowly growing my collection of natural dyed yarn. Along with dyeing some myself, so this is a beautiful addition.
Finally as I said always buy yarn from Chester Wool and when I saw these two skeins (the one on the right is called Zebra) it just shouts cowl/very large wrap which is definitely in my design future!
