Baby Sam "Granny" Blanket

I work in a small office and one of my colleagues recently became a proud dad for the second time.

I had not made a baby blanket for 12 years! So I decided now was the time to encompass both my new love of crochet and the opportunity to make something that would hopefully be treasured.

I used King Cole Baby which is 100% acrylic mainly due to the connivance of washing often.

The blanket measures 74cm x 54cm and consists of 8 x 6 rows of squares which I then joined together.

I am so pleased with the end result and will be making some more to sell on Folksy and eventually Etsy.

To finish and present the blanket to "Sam" I commissioned a company I share an office with to make the bespoke wrapping paper.

I hope you like the finished product and would love to hear any comments you have.

Joining granny squares

I am posting this mainly as a record for myself as at times I do a project say crotchet and then do not do another for some time so forget how I have done something.

Firstly I completed the required granny squares.  I then put them right sides together and matched up the holes on each square.

Then placing the hook through the first set of holes started the join.  I have done a single row of crotchet along the edge which on the wrong side produces a ridge and the right side a lovely neat finish.

Nearing the end of April already!

Not a hugh amount happened in my little world apart from work and dog walking.

The old girl Willow is under the weather at the moment which is really not nice but hoping she will pick up over the weekend.

On the crafting front, I have been busy making a crotchet granny squared baby blanket for a colleague at work who has become a dad for the second time.

I am loving making it as the squares do not too long to make and from the hours of love my son (now nearly 12) still gives his blanket I am hoping it will be well received.

I posted a picture on my Facebook of progress of said squares and to my joy a friend who has also not long become a dad also asked for a blanket for his beautiful daughter and to my great pleasure he is going to pay me to make it!!

So apart from this I have also been pottering in the garden another pass time I love along with sitting in it when the sun shows it's face, so I wanted to share some pictures of my lovely bespoke wall hanging I was given by Mrs AB, along with my alpine collection, magnolia tree and patio area.

Finally while Mrs and Master H were out at the cinema today I made a delicious Banana and Nut loaf thanks to Woman's Weekly receipe, just devine with a cuppa Earl Grey.

I hope your enjoying a lovely weekend, what are you up too?

Six year anniversary

Today I came home and my wife had bought me this spectacular boutque to celebrate our six years since meeting.

I can honestly say the time has gone so fast and I am without a doubt a very lucky lady to have such an amazing wife.

So to say I am a huge fan of Hamza Yassin is a massive understatement. I had the privilege to meet Hamza earlier this year at the Hay Book F...
